BUDDHISM
Buddhism was established in India by Siddhartha Guatama and it wes developed in about 535 BCE. There is no supreme being in this religion. Their key beliefs are the four noble truths which are that all beings suffer, desire causes suffering, desire can be overcome, the path that leads away from desire is the Eightfold path. They also believe in Nirvana which is the highest state that someone can attain, a state of enlightenment, meaning a person's individual desires and suffering go away. One major Buddhist holiday is Vesak or Visakah Puja that translates to "Buddha Day." They also celebrate the Buddhist New Year and it is celebrated for three days from the first full moon day in April. Their top four religious texts are the Tripitaka, the Mahayana Sutras, Tantra, and Zen texts. Today, Buddhism is practiced in many Asian countries. They practice their religion in Buddhist temples
